Lost/Characters
From The TV IV
Lost has a large ensemble cast, which might be hard to keep track of. This page lists all characters known to have visited the island, all recurring off-island characters, and notable non-recurring off-island characters. The characters are listed by number of appearances (not counting re-used footage/sound), and sorted either by the island group that they are most notably connected to, or as an off-island character.
In the official credits, the members of the main cast are credited for every episode during their time as a main cast member - no matter if they appear in an episode or not - but the counts listed in this article have been trimmed to only include actual appearances.
Each season finale has aired as a two-hour installment. Following production numbers and the producers, each of these installments are considered two episodes, i.e. appearing in both halves of a season finale counts as two appearances, and appearing in one of the halves counts as one appearance.
Unlike most series, Lost makes heavy use of recurring as extras in background characters, most notably among the islanders. While extras generally aren't credited, occasionally an actor playing an extra is given a line, and thus receives official credits. Also - some recurring extras, although not officially credited, have been referred to by name on-screen. To make this list complete, extras identified by credits and/or name, are included and marked by having their episode count in italics.
For characters who have been portrayed by multiple actors, only the most prominent actor is listed. Characters marked red are deceased - for a chronological list of all on-island fatalities since the crash of Oceanic 815, see the Fatality Timeline.
Also note that only characters from the actual series are included in the list. Characters only appearing in novels, games, and on-line media are not to be found here, since the status of such tie-ins is unclear.
The list is complete and updated as of The Incident (2), the 103rd episode and the season 5 finale.
