Cassidy Phillips is the former girlfriend of James Ford aka "Sawyer" . She fell in love with Sawyer and gave him her life savings. In the end, she found out that she had been conned. She is played by Kim Dickens, where she plays a guest role in flashbacks, and has appeared in four episodes to date.

Basic Information
Around four years before the plane crash, Cassidy met James Ford (Sawyer) and they started a relationship. When Cassidy discovered that Sawyer was trying to con her, she told him that she didn't get anything from her divorce and that he was wasting his time. However, she was intrigued by Sawyer's ability to con people and asked him to teach her how to con people.
Cassidy and Sawyer worked together, selling fake jewelry to people at gas stations and pulling various other scams on people. Cassidy got bored with all the small scams and told Sawyer that she wanted to do a big con. He informed her that they needed money for a long con, which they didn't have. Cassidy then confessed that she got $600,000 from her divorce and that they could use that money.
Eventually, Cassidy discovered that Sawyer knew about her money all along. He had taken her for a ride all that time and made her think that it was her idea to give him the money. He disappeared with her money and left her with nothing.
Cassidy continued trying to con people on her own until one day, a man at a gas station realized that she was selling fake necklaces. Before he could call the cops, Kate Austen walked up and helped Cassidy out by saying that her dad was a jeweler and that she could see Cassidy's were not fake. Cassidy realized that there was a reason Kate didn't want the guy to call the cops.
The two girls went for a drink at a bar and Kate told Cassidy that she killed her father a few months ago and was back in town to talk to her mother, Diane Janssen. Cassidy knew that the feds would be watching Diane and offered to help her. She told Kate that she had fallen in love with a bad guy who stole her life savings, and that she would help Kate because at least one of them deserved something good.
Cassidy helped Kate to make contact with her mother. Kate offered to help Cassidy with the man who conned her, but Cassidy revealed that she was pregnant with his child. Kate told Cassidy to call the cops and have him arrested.
Cassidy did eventually press charges against Sawyer and he ended up in prison. After giving birth to a baby girl, who she named Clementine, she went to see Sawyer in prison. She showed him a picture of their daughter and told him that he was a father. Sawyer told her to leave, as he had no business being a dad and wasn't interested.
After conning himself out of prison, Sawyer arranged for an account to be opened in his daughter's name, but asked that it be kept anonymous, so that Cassidy wouldn't know it was from him.
