Recap

11 teams set out from the Nevada desert and raced for $1,000,000. In Brazil, Wil and Blake clashed over who’s first in line for the boat. During the Detour, Deidre & Hillary struggled to descend down the Sugar Loaf Mountain and couldn’t recover from being the first team to be eliminated.

In the next leg, Peggy & Claire face their fear of heights. Because Shola's foot got ran over by their taxi, Shola & Doyin claimed the Fast Forward award. Blake & Paige were low on cash. But Hope & Norm’s taxi driver took a circuitous route to the bus station. The Gutsy Grannies survived another scare and Hope & Norm were eliminated.

In the next leg, teams took scattered flights to Cape Town, South Africa. Peggy & Claire took a roundabout flight to their destination, but missed their connecting flight in London. Some teams danced a jig during the detour, while some struggled with the sheep’s head. Peggy & Claire fell too many hours behind making it impossible for them to recover from elimination.

In the next leg, Danny had problems with his leg during the yoga practice. In Namibia, Chris & Alex missed a taxi and fell behind. But Shola & Doyin got lost in the desert and their truck got stuck in the sand. Chris & Alex and Gary & Dave went over the speed limit, and Wil let Gary & Dave have it. In the end, Shola & Doyin couldn’t make up lost time and were eliminated.

In the next leg, teams flew to Bangkok, Thailand, where Cyndi & Russell had problems finding a water taxi. Blake & Paige and Gary & Dave made a couple of mistakes during the detour. At the Roadblock, teams tried to brave off through the dark cave, and millions of bats. Cyndi & Russell couldn’t recover from elimination.

In the next leg, teams drove to Chiang Mai, where Tara & Wil clashed during the detour, but Chris & Alex struggled to navigate and they arrived last but were given a reprieve and were not eliminated.

In the next leg, teams flew to Hong Kong, China where Gary & Dave received the Fast Forward. Mary & Peach fell behind when their driver took them to the wrong location. The sisters simply couldn’t recover from their mistake and were eliminated.

In the next leg, teams rowed and plowed through the detour. Then in Australia, whereas Gary & Dave, Oswald & Danny, and Chris & Alex read the Roadblock carefully about one person performing the task alone, Tara & Wil and Blake & Paige did not. Tara & Wil bickered over their mistake, and Blake & Paige arrived last, but were not eliminated.

In the next leg, teams dashed for the charter flights and Blake & Paige beat Gary & Dave to the punch. Chris & Alex retrieved the Fast Forward. Tara & Wil clashed at the Detour. Gary & Dave seemed to catch up, but switched Detour tasks and lost time again and were eliminated.

In the next leg, teams flew to New Zealand where Wil faced his fear of heights at the Detour. Blake & Paige found the Fast Forward. Oswald & Danny arrived last at a non-elimination round.

In the next leg, since Tara & Wil were the only team left eligible for the Fast Forward, they decided to go for it, and succeeded. Oswald & Danny lost steam at the Detour and had an emotional farewell.

In the next leg, teams flew to Maui, Hawaii where searching for a yellow pineapple proves hard to spot on. At the Roadblock, Wil had trouble opening the box underwater, and tempers flare between him and Tara as the other teams passed them. After several minutes, Wil finally ripped open the box. While happy for finally completing the Roadblock, Wil was not happy with Tara's behavior. But Chris & Alex took a wrong turn on the way to the pit stop. Still, there are no more elimination legs, even though they arrived last. Because of a production error, Tara & Wil and Blake & Paige both earned first place and the same prize.

In the final leg of the race, teams flew to Anchorage, Alaska where teams had to retrieve a clue from a globe of ice. Then they flew to San Francisco, where Blake & Paige searched in vain for the Municipal Pier. In a footrace to the finish, Tara & Wil had the lead, but Tara’s slow pacing gave Chris & Alex a chance to pass them and the Boston Boys narrowly defeated the separated couple as the official winners of The Amazing Race.
