Prison Break (2005–2009) tells the story of Michael Scofield's attempt to free his brother, Lincoln Burrows, who is on death row for murdering the brother of the Vice President, a crime he swears he didn't commit. Michael is a structural engineer with full access to the blueprints of the prison in which his brother is incarcerated. Michael commits a bank robbery with the intention of being sentenced to Fox River State Penitentiary in order to break out of it with his brother, in an attempt to prove Lincoln's innocence. During his stay at the Penitentiary, he runs into unique personalities that both help and hinder his plan for escape.

The show, like Lost, keeps the viewer in the dark about what is happening. We know that Michael Scofield plans to break out, but he keeps most of his plan a mystery.
