Basic Information
Yūko is a well-known figure throughout the various worlds. She is known to many as the "Dimensional Witch" because of her knowledge and power. In spite of this appellation, we very rarely ever see her use any magical powers.
Yūko owns a shop where items are not displayed on open sale nor does she advertise. Instead, people wander in and Yūko gives them what they need rather than what they want. Sometimes what she gives is a physical object, other times it is vaguely supernatural, and many times it is not apparent at all.
Character History
Syaoran and Sakura were sent to her house by High Priest Yukito after Sakura lapsed into a magically-induced coma when her memories were scattered. Kurogane was unwillingly sent to her by Princess Tomoyo. Fai used his own magic to arrive there on purpose. All of them shared non-identical but similar goals: Syaoran wanted to take Sakura to different worlds to find her memories, Kurogane wanted to go home to his own world, and Fai wanted to go anywhere but his home world. To achieve these goals, Yūko gave them the white Mokona, which allows them to travel between worlds.
In return, all of them had to give something up, the terms dictated by Yūko. Fai had to give up the magical markings on his back. Kurogane was forced to surrender his sword (he vowed to return for it). Syaoran and Sakura were forced to have their relationship with each other wiped away. No matter how many memories Sakura retrieves, she will never remember any of the parts that involve Syaoran. This means some memories will never come back, while others will have his part excised.
Any time the group needs to speak with Yūko they can call her using Mokona. In The Bewitching Woman they requested Yūko's help in taking down the magical barrier that surrounded the castle in Ryonfi. She sent them a ball of black spiritual energy that Syaoran later threw at the barrier to destroy it. In return, Fai willingly sent over his staff.
Yūko is not completely serious though, and has a rather kind but silly side. In The Café in Sakura Country she sent them fondant au chocolat that Watanuki made. In her conversation with Mokona in Cat and the Dog it became apparent that she expects a White Day present in return for the chocolate. She later sends them a reminder in Blade of a Desperate Fight that they do not get to read until The Last Wish. This does not endear her to Kurogane.
