Basic Information
Sakura is the princess of the Kingdom of Clow. Her father was the previous king; her elder brother Touya holds that position now. Sakura has lived in the palace all her life. Despite this, she is well-known and greatly liked by the people because of her kind manner and sunny disposition.
Sakura came into contact with mysterious ruins on the outskirts of Clow, which spirited all her memories away. Her close friend Syaoran brought her to the Dimensional Witch Yūko and she gave them the ability to travel between worlds to retrieve the lost memories. Accompanied by Kurogane, Fai, and Mokona, Syaoran and Sakura have managed to restore some of her memories.
Because everything from Yūko has a price, Sakura lost her relationship with Syaoran. No matter how much of her memories they restore, she will never remember her past friendship with Syaoran. Even when he was present for a particular event, his part is excised. Sakura is aware that something is wrong and it troubles her greatly. Unfortunately, the spell prevents her from realizing what is happening.
Character History
Sakura is the only daughter of the king of Clow. She has one older brother, Touya. When she was younger, her father introduced her to the adopted son of a visiting archeologist - Syaoran. It was explained to her that he had led a hard life and now has a closed heart, and perhaps she could help him open up. Sakura befriended Syaoran, and eventually the two become close companions. Sakura may have developed feelings for him as they grew older, but neither of them ever admitted it.
After the death of his father Syaoran continued to excavate strange ruins on the outskirts of Clow. Sakura was drawn to these ruins one evening, and upon touching a mysterious seal in the catacombs, she grew a pair of wings and floated in the air. Syaoran caught her when she fell, and the feathers floated away. It was discovered that these feathers were her memories, and now Sakura was comatose and dying. With High Priest Yukito's assistance, Syaoran took her to the Dimensional Witch Yūko. Yūko gave them Mokona, which allowed them to travel between dimensions to retrieve the lost memories; and two traveling companions - Fai and Kurogane.
Sakura remained asleep for many of their trips, sometimes reviving for a scant few minutes or hours at a time. In The Innocent Wanderer she went for a walk around a city and met some gang members; her kindness was enough to make them rethink their lives. As Sakura gains more feathers back, she sleeps less and is more active.
Their visit to Jade Country (The Phantom Fairy Tale) marked a turning point for Sakura, as it was the first time she had taken part in retrieving her lost feather. Feeling guilty, in recent adventures Sakura has tried to take a more proactive role in getting her feathers back, though the other members of the group do not begrudge her.
When they were in the country of Ōto Sakura helped Fai run a café (The Café in Sakura Country). They had decided that working there was a good way to gather information. As a result, she seems much closer to both Fai and Mokona.

Trivia
- Sakura is an alternate reality version of Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura. They are both kind, cheerful girls, and the other Sakura also has a brother named Touya and loves that show's Syaoran. Like the Clow Cards on Cardcaptor Sakura, her memories scatter all over and must be gathered to prevent great calamity.
