Plot Overview

As the episode starts, they have been in a new world for a bit, having already bought clothes to suit the harsh winter climate. Mokona complains that Kurogane ate the cream puffs Yūko gave to it.

While the group sits inside an inn, the innkeeper tells the legend of a golden-haired princess in the northern town, who received a magical feather from a bird. When she took it, her parents died. Then the children began to gather at the castle, drawn by the power of the feather. They were never heard from again. Since this story sounds like it involves one of Sakura's feathers, they go north to check it out. They reach a town that promptly shuts all its windows and door, and on the street they are confonted by a group of men armed with staves. Syaoran lies and says they are there to research a book. A man comes out and tells the other men to stop at once, inviting Syaoran and the others back to his house. His name is Kyle Rondart, and he is the town's doctor.

While they are talking, the richest man in town, Mr. Grosum, bursts in with the mayor, and tells Dr. Rondart that he shouldn't be letting strangers into town. When they leave, Dr. Rondart explains that twenty children have gone missing. He also says that they can stay at his place instead of at the inn. Fai and Syaoran talk a bit, and then Sakura falls down suddenly, asleep. They put her to bed. She wakes up in the middle of the night, and when she looks out the window, Sakura sees the golden-haired princess walking down the street surrounded by black birds.

The next morning, another child has gone missing. Sakura says she saw the princess, so everyone assumes the princess took the missing child. But Sakura thinks the princess doesn't look like the type to steal a child, she was too sad. Mr. Grosum is suspicious of them, but Dr. Rondart explains that no one could have left his house. The townspeople leave to look for the child. Sakura is sorry because everyone suspects them because of what she said, but Syaoran says he believes her. They look up and see black birds in a tree.

Back at Dr. Rondart's house, he tells them more of the story of the golden-haired princess. She made the children disappear, and none of them were ever seen again in their original form. Sakura is the first person to ever see the princess. Syaoran borrows Dr. Rondart's copy of the town history. They walk to the ruins of the castle, where a rushing river stands between them and the castle, the bridge having been destroyed years ago. On a cliff above them, Fai spots Mr. Grosum. They head back to town, where Dr. Rondart has just finished treating a patient, a little girl who was friends with the missing child.

Inside, Syaoran reads more of the history, but there is nothing there about the feather. He then goes and sits by Sakura, who is feeling weird because she is not used to being doubted. Again, Syaoran says he believes her. Dr. Rondart comes up to them and says that he has to lock everyone's doors that night because the townspeople asked.

That night, Sakura is looking outside at the snow, when she sees five children leaving their homes. Then she sees the golden-haired princess, Princess Emeraude. Sakura tries to get out the door, but it is locked. So she jumps out the window and follows the children to the river. They step onto the river, seeming to walk across the water. Sakura falls unconscious in the snow. Princess Emeraude says she's been waiting for Sakura for so long.

Back at the doctor's house, they notice Sakura is missing. The townspeople show up asking about the children, and when they find out Sakura is missing too, they blame the disappearances on her and storm the house. They are easily defeated by Syaoran, Fai, and Kurogane. When one of the townspeople declares that they will remain the top suspects, Syaoran says he will find the children, and Sakura.

Meanwhile, Sakura is sleeping inside the castle.
