Basic Information

Mokona Modoki is a small white creature that loves to eat and has the ability to teleport between different worlds. It orignally belonged to Yūko, but was given to Syaoran and his group in order to facilitate their travel between worlds. Mokona can also communicate with Yūko and send items back and forth via its connection with the black Mokona still in her possession.

Mokona is excessively cheerful and occasionally rude, traits which exasperate its companions, particularly Kurogane.

Character History

Mokona was one of two Mokona belonging to the Dimensional Witch Yūko. When Syaoran, Sakura, Kurogane, and Fai arrived at Yūko's house with their varying objectives, Mokona was given to the group in exchange for something precious from each of them.

Mokona serves the group in two obvious ways: transporting them between worlds, and locating Sakura's lost feathers. When Mokona detects one of the feathers, its face goes "mekkyon" (the "scary face") for an instant. This happens whether Mokona is conscious or not, and it may only have a brief impression of having done so.

When Mokona was kidnapped in The Battle of the Mages the group discovered that Mokona had another purpose: it allowed them to talk to each other despite their completely different languages. Once Kurogane, Fai, and Syaoran came within a certain distance of Mokona, their comprehension was restored.

Mokona loves to join Fai in teasing Kurogane, even repeating the silly nicknames that Fai gives Kurogane. Despite this, Kurogane does protect Mokona, even if he would rather hit it repeatedly. Mokona also developed a close friendship with Sakura, particularly when they worked at the cafe in Ōto.

• The name of the white Mokona is actually Soel but it is never spoken.
• Mokona is an alternate version of Mokona from Magic Knight Rayearth.
