[edit] Trivia
- Originally, Eric Balfour was meant to have a billed role for the first episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in which he appeared as Xander's friend Jesse. By the end of the first episode, Jesse is turned into a vampire and by the end of the second, he's staked and never seen again. Series creator Joss Whedon hoped to instill the notion that any character is in danger, even main characters, but it would have cost too much to cut together two opening credits sequences.
- Despite being mostly forgotten after his two episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the writers considered bringing Balfour back for the season six episode "Conversations with Dead People". In the episode, The First Evil took the form of various dead people to psychologically manipulate members of the cast. However, this plot was dropped in favor of a similar story involving Willow and an unrelated teenage girl.
