24 is an action show starring Kiefer Sutherland, that airs on FOX.
The show centers around Jack Bauer (Sutherland), a field agent working for the Los Angeles Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), a fictitious federal law enforcement agency with broad-ranging powers to stop terrorist threats. Each season represents one day, with 24 hour-long episodes each representing one hour in the day, and several months to a year in between seasons.
The show has a tradition of shaking up the cast between seasons, sometimes moving recurring characters up to billed status and sometimes moving billed characters back to recurring character status, and constantly introducing new characters. Cast members are killed off regularly, often quickly and unexpectedly.
Though originally cancelled at the end of season 8 in 2010, it was announced at the 2013 upfronts that 24 will return with a twelve-episode season in May 2014, subtitled "Live Another Day."
