Walt Cummings was Chief of Staff to President Charles Logan.

Through CTU agent Spencer Wolff, Cummings acted to aid the Nathanson Cell in its operations to acquire the nerve gas. After being confronted by Jack Bauer, he confessed his involvement to the President and was removed from his post and confined to his quarters. He later hung himself with his belt.
