Season Seven of Buffy the Vampire Slayer begins with the characters picking up the pieces in the aftermath of the traumatic events of season six. Willow is in England with Giles dealing with her guilt, Spike has returned but has been driven insane by the shock of his new soul, and Anya is dealing with her return to vengeance demonhood.

The final season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer also sees the always present theme of female empowerment ratcheted up another notch. In addition we see Buffy struggling with the challenges of leadership, and the Scoobies struggling with issues of trust and loyalty.

The driving theme of season seven is power, whether it's physical, magical, or the power over others. Throughout the season we explore the nature, sources, and use/misuse of power within the Buffy universe.
