From The TV IV
Season Sixteen of Soul Train premiered on September 20, 1986. During this season, Soul Train began doing its famous Music Award specials, the first one airing on March 23, 1987. This was also the last season that O'Bryan's theme "Soul Train's a Comin'" was used.
