From The TV IV
Season Three of Soul Train premiered on September 1, 1973.
Starting with Episode 76, the show's theme had changed to the popular "TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)" by MFSB. The opening sequence had the animated train chugging around a city blowing funky fire out from its smokestacks and go through a tunnel into the set where the dancers dance to the theme. The set this time has the large title on the stage, but with the train tracks attached to each word.
