Season Ten of Soul Train premiered on September 20, 1980.
Soul Train institutes a brand new theme song: "Up on Soul Train" by the R&B group, The Whispers. Also, The Soul Train Line starts having individual dancers going down the line instead of couples like it had been in previous years.
