From The TV IV
Season Seventeen of Soul Train premiered on September 19, 1987. Soul Train has a brand new theme this season: "TSOP '87" by George Duke. This theme was first introduced in the 1st Annual Soul Train Music Awards in the previous season. This will be used until the 1992-1993 season.
