WCIV is the My Network TV affiliate for Charleston, South Carolina. It broadcasts a digital signal on channel 35, displayed as virtual 36. Its subcarriers are ABC (DT2) and Me-TV (DT3).
WCIV first opened on analog channel 4 as an NBC affiliate. It switched to ABC in 1996. In 2014, station owner Sinclair was seeking to sell off some of their TV assets, with My Network TV affiliate WMMP/channel 36 among them. Failing that, Sinclair chose to relocate WCIV's call to channel 36 and ABC's affiliation to channel 36's subchannel. Channel 4 took over the WMMP call on September 30 (taking on programming from ZUUS Country) but the WCIV subcarrier retained the "ABC News 4" branding. Sinclair sold WMMP/channel 4 to Howard Stirk Holdings and changed its call to WGWG-TV.
Channel 36 itself started in 1992 as independent WCTP, changing to WBTU in 1995 and becoming a WB affiliate. The call changed to WMMP and affiliation to UPN in 1997. The station changed affiliation to My Network TV in 2006 after UPN and the WB shut down and became the CW.
