KTRE is an ABC affiliate in Lufkin/Nacogdoches, Texas. The station broadcasts on digital channel 9 displayed to tuners on virtual channel 9 and is owned by Gray Television. It is a semi-satellite of KLTV in Tyler/Longview, Texas.
KTRE opened in 1955 as an ABC affiliate with a secondary CBS and NBC affiliation. In 1984, the station along with KLTV dropped CBS in favor of KLMG channel 51 signing on the air (now KFXK, a FOX affiliate, CBS is now on KYTX channel 19), then in 1987, the two stations dropped NBC in favor of KETK-TV channel 56 signing on the air.
