He originally wanted to be a doctor.
He played the role of boyfriend Todd Wilkins on the "Sweet Valley High" TV show for the first two seasons until he was fired and replaced with Jeremy Vincent Garrett.
He played water-polo in high school and planned on doing it professionally. He does play at a near-professional level. He now teaches it in his spare time.
Bittle also enjoys flying and got his private pilot's license in 2001.
After two seasons, 1994–1996, he and co-star Bridget Flanery were dismissed for getting romantically involved and the conflict that disrupted their work.
He plays golf and tennis.
