Plot Overview

When exactly...
- ...does Phoebe have time to read all that stuff about "timing, feeling, and the phases of the moon"? She opens the book to the first page, reads the title, turns to the second page, reads the incantation, and the other two sisters arrive! Is she speed-reading the index in the four seconds it takes for the sparkly special effect in the chandelier?
- ...does the tree in front of the Halliwell Manor have time to bloom? The night the sisters receive their powers, Jeremy walks under the tree, which is absolutely bare of bloom or leaf. Yet the next morning, a scant six or seven hours later, the same tree is in full leaf!
- ...does Piper impale her poppet with the rose—before or after reciting the verbal component of the spell? If you watch carefully, it seems she does it twice, both before and after the spell.
For your further consideration:
- If the Halliwells are burning those candles in the attic, why aren't the wicks burned when they clean up?
- If the elevator is going up while Jeremy attacks Piper, how does she end up crawling over the same stack of wooden pallets, to leave by a doorway that should have been many floors below them?
Allusions and References
- The title is a pun to a line in William Shakespeare's Macbeth, wherein Macbeth confronts a trio of witches who inform him of his destiny and demise. The second witch specifically says, "From the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes", inferring that Macbeth is the "wicked thing".
