Plot Overview
Two of the Cylons' plans go awry; both the attempted executions and the ambush of the insurgents' rendezvous with the team from the Galactica are thwarted, potentially the start of a turnaround for the fortunes of the human settlers of New Caprica.
Meanwhile, D'Anna is inspired by dreams to believe that the human-Cylon baby Hera remains alive despite widespread belief to the contrary.
Back at the escaped fleet, final preparations for the rescue mission are under way. The Galactica is to carry out the rescue mission, with the Pegasus and the civilian fleet waiting at a meeting point for eighteen hours.
On the ground, the insurgents are prepared to strike for maximum confusion in aid of the Galactica's daring rescue attempt.

Happenings
- Tyrol gets Seelix and a few others to shoot and destroy the Centurions before they can execute the detainees.
- The marines take out the Centurions who ambush the rendezvous with Sharon. In the aftermath, the map Tigh gave Ellen to burn.
- As their occupation becomes more and more unstable, it's suggested nuking the city as a last resort.
- Adama gives Lee the coordinates to a rendezvous point and has him wait there with the civilian fleet. If Galactica isn't back in 18 hours, he is to resume the search for Earth.
- The insurgency preps for the evacuation plan.
- Roslin has Anders make sure Maya and her baby are protected. He has two men to guard them.
- Sharon gets the launch keys from the Cylons.
Characters
- Number Three has a dream of the outside of a tent and later of her holding a child. She finds the same tent and is met with an oracle. The oracle gives her a message from her god that Hera is still alive and she will hold her in her arms and know love.
- Baltar has resumed his relationship with Caprica-Six, but he's been slipping into depression.
- Three finds Sharon and tells her that Hera is alive. Sharon doesn't believe her, asserting that Adama wouldn't lie to her. However, when she runs into Tyrol she asks about the spreading of her ashes.
- Tigh is confronted about finding the map and it tying back to Ellen. She then admits to doing it, but only because Cavil threatened his life.
Referbacks
- Roslin refers to the baby as "the shape of things to come." This is how Number Six refers to the baby in "Kobol's Last Gleaming, part 2".

Behind the Scenes
- Tyrol's beard has been shaved off before the start of this episode. This was due to filming schedules in which Aaron Douglas had already shaved off his beard, and it was felt that using a fake beard for continuity would not have been convincing.

Goofs
- The reaction shot of Tigh in the teaser when Ellen is helping to put his bandage on is simply a reused shot lifted from later in the episode when she confesses to him.
Quotes
- Tigh: Chief. Pull it together. You won't do her any good if you get caught, too. Besides, the last thing your son wants is me and Ellen for parents.
- Tom Zarek: (to Roslin) Been a while since I had a woman throw me to the ground. Not quite as much fun as I remember.
- Tyrol: We're going home. Admiral Adama's on his way. We're getting off this rock and going back to Galactica.
- Lee: Eighteen hours, try not to be late.
- Adama: I'm getting old, I'm a little slow... but I'll be there.
- Lee: Just wish I could talk you outta this.
- Adama: You can't. You try.
- Lee: You know, dad, um...
- Adama: Don't... Don't make me cry on my own hangar deck.
- Cottle: Didn't know you people had dreams.
- Number Three: For sure. Yeah, everybody dreams, doc.
- Sam Anders: Now, just keep it to the main streets, okay? Everybody will think you're just a regular skin job and they'll avoid you, but there're a lot of people out there looking to gut an unwary Cylon going for a stroll so don't let anybody get close enough to stick a knife in you.
- Sharon: Right, thanks for the concern. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
- Sam Anders: How far do you want it to go? I mean, if it looks like the Cylons are gonna capture them, do...
- Roslin: No... don't let it get to that point. That's all.
