WWSB is an ABC affiliate in Sarasota, Florida. The station broadcasts on digital channel 24 displayed to tuners on virtual channel 40 and is owned by Gray Television. WWSB's branding is ABC 7 which it refers to channel 7 on cable systems in Sarasota.
WWSB first opened in 1971 as WXLT-TV as an ABC affiliate for viewers that didn't reach a signal from former ABC affiliate WTSP in Tampa/St. Petersburg (now a CBS affiliate). In 1986, the station changed its call letters to the current WWSB. The station serves as the ABC affiliate for the eastern portion of the Tampa Bay market while the western side of the area has WFTS-TV for their ABC affiliate. On April 11, 2016, Calkins Media announced they will be exiting the television business and selling its ABC affiliates to Raycom Media.
