[edit] Biography
At an early age Sara Gilbert decided that she wanted to be an actress while watching her siblings Melissa and Jonathan Gilbert star in Little House on the Prairie. Sara's mother got her started in a Kool-Aid commercial and she went off to do many other cameo roles. Then came her big break playing Darlene Conner on the hit sitcom Roseanne. During her stretch on Roseanne she starred in the feature films Sudie and Simpson and Poison Ivy. After Roseanne ended its nine-year run she directed a short film (Persona Non Grata) and had a starring part in the movie Light It Up. Later she guest-starred in many hit TV shows like 24, ER, and Will & Grace. Recently Sara starred in the short-lived series Twins and now has a recurring role as Fern on The Class on CBS.
