Divatox, an evil space pirate, is portrayed by Hilary Shepard Turner and Carol Hoyt. Hilary portrayed Divatox in the feature film, while Carol Hoyt took over when the series began, until Hilary was off maternity leave. Hilary's portrayal was loud and campy, while Carol played the role more toned down and menacing.

Basic Information

Divatox is the captain of a submarine, located in Angel Grove Lake-- and later in outer space. Her generals include Rygog, Porto and her nephew, Elgar. Her brother, General Havoc shows up mid-Turbo and her mother, Mama D. makes an appearance in Passing the Torch. She also had a fiance, Maligore, whom the Turbo Rangers defeated.

Divatox successfully destroys the Turbo powers, and while searching for the remains of the rangers, is summoned by Dark Specter to report to him at once. Rita Repulsa overhears that Divatox had destroyed the rangers, becoming jealous. However, when Astronema is chosen to be Dark Specter's top villain, both Divatox and Rita turn their hatred to her. Never following her orders, only Dark Specter's.

When Andros destroys Zordon's energy tube, all of the evil is destroyed in the galaxy. Divatox, along with a select few other villains, become pure with good. When the wave of energy hits her, Divatox exclaims "I'm beautiful!" and frolics along.

Trivia

• Divatox was the first villain to be featured in the opening credits. The only season not to do this since is Mystic Force, which was the first season to feature all rubber suits since Zeo.
• Divatox is assumed to be the sister of Dimitria, after Dimitria was said to have a twin sister in Transmission Impossible.
• When Carol Hoyt took over the role, temporarily, she became the first actress to portray both a villain and mentor at the same time. The only other actor with this honor is Grant McFarland, with his double role of Lothor and Sensei.
