Basic Information
Tony Vincenzo is a news editor at the Independent News Service. He is also Carl Kolchak's somewhat irritable boss. Emily Cowles, the advice columnist and Ron Updyke also work for Tony.
When Kolchak goes off on a tangent, pursuing a story of the bizarre or the supernatural, he misses his deadlines; and it's up to Tony to hound Kolchak for a story. He would prefer that Kolchak report on more reliable material.
He also has to mediate the (often petty) disputes between Kolchak and Ron Updyke over things such as name calling and parking privileges.
But what really irritates Tony is repeatedly bailing Kolchak out of jail for offenses such as grave desecration, impersonating a police official, and the like.
Character History
Before the television show, Tony Vincenzo, was Kolchak's editor in the 1972 TV movie The Night Stalker, and in the 1973 sequel The Night Strangler. As such, he is the only character besides Kolchak himself to appear in both the two movies and the series.

Trivia
- Tony played drums when he was in college in the 1940s. He even had his own band: Tony Vincenzo's Neopolitans. They won the Westchester County Battle of the Bands in 1940. According to Tony, they brought down the house with their rendition of Stompin' at the Savoy.
