[edit] Biography

David Scott Foley was born January 4, 1963 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He attended an "alternative" high school but dropped out to pursue comedy. Dave met Kevin McDonald soon after and with him formed the sketch comedy group The Kids In The Hall in 1984. The group performed live shows until they were "discovered" by Saturday Night Live creator and fellow Canadian Lorne Michaels, and their show came to television in 1988. The Kids In The Hall aired until 1994, when the show was ended by its creators, who felt it had run its course. The troupe came together again in 1996 to make the feature film Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy, though at the time Foley was very busy with NewsRadio and only appeared briefly in the project.

During his tenure at NewsRadio, Foley began his film career, writing and starring in the cult Canadian comedy The Wrong Guy, for which he won the Film Discovery Jury Award at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, CO. He also landed the starring voice role in Pixar's A Bug's Life. Since the late 1990s Foley has worked on various film and television projects, and again teamed up with his fellow Kids in the Hall for a number of national theater tours. He can currently be seen as the host of Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown.
