Plot Overview

While Colonel Tigh, Anders, Tory, and now Chief Tyrol continue to hear mysterious music, Baltar's trial continues with testimony from Gaeta and, in a twist, Lee. The fleet jumps to the Ionian Nebula hoping to find another clue to Earth, but finds a Cylon armada and a surprise instead.

Notes

Music

  • Bt4 - "All Along the Watchtower"

Arc Advancement

Happenings

  • The fleet finally jumps to the Ionian nebula. Soon after, the power in every ship goes out, but is restored, also simultaneously. This leaves them all vulnerable when the Cylons jump in as it will take 20 minutes to spool up their FTL.
  • Lee puts on his flight suit and gets in a Viper to help. He chases an unidentified bogey that turns out to be Kara in a brand new Viper. She assures Lee it's her. She then claims to have been to Earth and will take them there.

Characters

  • Roslin has another dream, this time she discovers Athena has been sharing it. They go to Caprica-Six where they learns she's also been sharing the dream. When asked why she was trying to reach Hera, she says she doesn't know, just that she felt she had to protect her with her life. After the jump to the Ionian nebula, she has another dream, this time with Baltar holding Hera where they face the same stage Three saw. They turn around and see above them five figures shrouded in a glow.
  • Anders has been sleeping with Tory.
  • Baltar is found not guilty. Left with nowhere to go and fearful of appraisal as he wanders the corridors of Galactica, a few women, including the woman who wanted her child blessed, usher him away to safety.
  • Upon arriving at the Ionian nebula, Tigh, Tyrol, Tory, and Anders begin hearing the music clearly and are inexorably pulled through Galactica until all four convene in the gym. Somehow, they all realise they're Cylons and always have been.
  • With the fleet under attack, most of the four are unsure, but Tigh asserts who he is and has long believed himself to be and is willing to die as that man. As Anders and Tyrol return to the hangar, Tigh and Tory return to CIC to serve beside Adama and Roslin, respectively.

Referbacks

  • Lee's long speech at the closing of Baltar's trial makes reference to specific events in the series. President Roslin's blanket pardon was issued at the end of "Collaborators". Helo and Tyrol's murder of Pegasus officer Lt Thorne occurred in "Pegasus". Admiral (then Commander) Adama's military coup against Roslin happens in "Kobol's Last Gleaming", part 2. Lee goes on to list his own sins: shooting down the Olympic Carrier ("33"), act of mutiny by raising a weapon to Tigh ("Kobol's Last Gleaming", part 2), and jumping away from New Caprica ("Lay Down Your Burdens", part 2).

Trivia

The Show

  • Katee Sackhoff's name appears in the closing credits, most likely to maintain the surprise of her reappearance.

Behind the Scenes

Allusions and References

  • At one point, Galen, Tigh, Anders, and finally Tory recite lyrics to the song "All Along the Watchtower", a song written and originally preformed by Bob Dylan, but made more famous when covered by Jimi Hendrix.

Memorable Moments

  • The final moments in which Lee finds Kara alive again. After asserting she's been to Earth and will take everyone there, the camera pulls out from the galaxy and back in to show a planet that confirms to the audience that Earth is indeed real.

Quotes

  • Racetrack: Yo, Anders! Do you need a frakking invitation? Move it!
Anders: All right. No reason to get excited.
  • Tigh: I am here telling you there is Cylon sabotage aboard our ship!
Adama: Sabotage with music.
Tigh: I know, I know. I can't quite understand it myself, but there's too much confusion.
  • Baltar: The whole fleet knows this man tried to stab me through the neck (to Gaeta) and you missed! Butterfingers!
  • Tyrol: There must be some kind of way out of here.
Tigh: Said the joker to the thief.
Anders: There's too much confusion here.
Tory: I can't get no relief.
  • Tigh: The ship is under attack. We do our jobs. Report to your stations.
Tyrol: Report to stations?
Tigh: My name is Saul Tigh. I am an officer in the Colonial Fleet. Whatever else I am, whatever else it means, that's the man I want to be. And if I die today, that's the man I'll be.
  • Kara: Hi, Lee.
Lee: Kara?
Kara: Don't freak out. It really is me. It's going to be okay. I've been to Earth. I know where it is, and I'm going to take us there.
