• Anders tells Tigh that Ellen's betrayal could have cost them the escape attempt, and that he knows what has to be done and it would be better for her if it was him that did it.
• Ellen tells Tigh that it was her that got him out of jail and that she never meant for any of this to happen, only to save Tigh.
• Ellen drinks from a mug Tigh had, Tigh tells her to just go to sleep - he poisoned her. Tigh tells her he loves her, then cries.

• Baltar is drunk and has had enough of the Cylons. He berates the Cylons for their "smug superiority" and unwillingness to listen because of their confidence in victory.
• D'Anna asks what Baltar would have them do. Baltar tells her to pack up their Centurions and go.
• D'Anna refuses because she believes that the humans will bide their time teaching their children about the Cylons until they become powerful again and go hunting the Cylons.
• Gaeta notices that smoke is rising from the city - the series of attacks intended to distract the Cylons during the evacuation has begun.

[edit] Evacuation

• Tory Foster gets the evacuation moving.
• The Resistance retrieves their weapons cache from a hidden bunker under the Pyramid court.
• Galactica hides in the DRADIS-inhibiting nebula surrounding New Caprica.
• Racetrack and the other Raptor pilots launch dozens of electronic warfare drones to create the DRADIS signatures of a pair of battlestars.
• A Sharon notifies the other Cylons in Colonial One that they've picked up two battlestars.
• Two base ships head over to investigate and launch Raiders. The Vipers and Raptors retreat back to Galactica.
• Leoben heads out to help the other Cylons. Starbuck tries to overpower him and escape, but he knocks her unconscious and locks her in.
• Zarek tries to get Roslin to board an escape ship, but Roslin won't leave on any ship but her ship, Colonial One. Zarek catches Jammer on his way to an escape ship, gives him a gun and sends him with Roslin.
• The Cylons figure out that the two battlestars were decoys.
• Tigh and Tyrol get pinned down by Centurions. Just then, the Galactica plummets through the atmosphere, glowing red with the heat of atmospheric entry.
• The Vipers launch inside the atmosphere, led by Hot Dog.
• The ship drops to an extremely low atmosphere, then jumps to FTL, scattering the Raider patrols. Vipers take out the tower that had Tigh and Tyrol pinned down. Tigh, Tyrol, and their team continue forward.
• Marines and Resistance forces head into the Cylon citadel and free the prisoners held in their cells, including Starbuck. Starbuck refuses to leave, insisting on going back for Kacey.
• Galactica was severely damaged by the in-atmosphere jump, and base ships are headed for them. Galactica has to hold them off to allow the fleet to escape. Jump drive and maneuvering thrusters are both offline.
• Galactica flies down the middle of the four base ships, being hammered to pieces by their guns and flights of Raiders.
• Pegasus abruptly jumps in and opens fire on the base ships, saving Galactica. The Cylons change target to Pegasus. Apollo orders the ship to fly right down the center of the bracketing Cylons, taking fire from all four base ships.
• The Cylons begin evacuation procedure themselves and intend to set off a nuke, destroying the city. Gaeta enters after the Cylons leave, wielding a gun and threatening to kill Baltar.
• Galactica gets its FTL back online. Kelly comments that Pegasus hasn't launched any Vipers. Adama says that he left all his Vipers and Raptors behind to protect the Fleet, knowing that this was a one-way trip.
• Gaeta continues threatening Baltar with the gun. Baltar agrees with Gaeta's assessment that Baltar has done horrible things, tells Gaeta about D'Anna's nuke, and asks Gaeta to shoot him. Gaeta refuses, hands Baltar the gun and tells him to go stop the nuke.
• Apollo has the crew set Pegasus' guns on autofire and gives the abandon ship order. The crew evacuates, leaving the abandoned battlestar to plow dead-on into one of the attacking base stars. One of the flight pods spirals out of the explosion and crashes into another base star, destroying it as well.
• Starbuck finds Kacey and Leoben. Leoben demands that Starbuck tell him she loves him. Starbuck complies, then knifes Leoben in the gut, killing him.
• Six and Baltar find Maya dead and Sharon's baby lying on the ground. D'Anna takes the baby and Baltar prepares to shoot her, but Six says to let her go - she won't set off the nuke now.
• Roslin and her team secure Colonial One and launch.
• The evac Raptors return to Galactica.
• A woman approaches out of the crowd, hollering Kacey's name. Kacey is really her daughter: Leoben kidnapped her to use her as leverage against Starbuck.
• Tigh and Adama are reunited.
• The rescued Colonials chant Adama's name and carry him across the landing bay on their shoulders.
• Tory tells Roslin that it doesn't look like Maya or Hera made it off New Caprica. Tory feels guilty because she left them, but Roslin tells her she didn't do anything wrong.
• Adama shaves off his mustache and walks out of his quarters. Galactica is bustling with activity again, fully crewed and operational.

• [Ellen tells Tigh why she did what she did]

Ellen: I had to do it, Saul. I had to. It was all for you, and I want you to know that I would have done anything to save you.
Tigh: I know, I know. It's alright. Everything's gonna be alright.
Ellen: No, you don't understand. I got you out of detention, Saul. It was me. I got you out. I went to see them, the Cylons. Finally got to the one in charge, and I got him to notice me, the way men notice me. I slept with him, and I felt like puking every time he put his filthy hands on me, but I smiled and I faked it to save you, Saul. But you listen to me- I'd do it again, frak anybody, do anything... even gave him the map. I didn't... want anybody to be killed. (cries)
Tigh: Alright.
Ellen: I could use a drink. (takes a mug from Tigh, drinks) You've always been there for me when I need you. Oh, I'm exhausted. I feel like I could just curl up here.
Tigh: There.
Ellen: Should have listened to you, Saul. We should have stayed on Galactica.
Tigh: Don't worry about any of that, now. Just go to sleep.
Ellen: Sleepy...
(Ellen drops the mug)
Tigh: (voice breaking) I love you. You hear me?
(He carries her body to a table and cries)

• [about to launch inside the atmosphere as Galactica plummets]

Control: Go for launch!
Hot Dog: Well... this ought to be different.

• [Baltar berates the Cylons]

Baltar: I mean, I've told you and I've told you, but to what end? Too secure in your smug superiority to listen, too comfortable in your predictions of success to even consider the possibility of defeat. And where are we now? More to the point... where's Laura Roslin? Where's Tom Zarek? At large, whereabouts unknown, free, at any rate. Probably with Colonel Tigh solidifying the insurgency's hold over the public's imagination.
D'Anna: What would you have us do, Gaius?
Baltar: Leave. Pack up your Centurions and go. Please. Go.
D'Anna: And then what? What would you do if we really just left you here? You'd live out your lives in peace and never trouble yourselves with thoughts of us again? Or would you raise your children with stories of the Cylon, the mechanical slaves that once did your bidding only to turn against you, killers who committed genocide against your race, the occupiers of this city until we just ran away. Would you tell them to tell the story to their children, and to their children's children, and nurse a dream of vengeance down through the years so that one day they could just go out into the stars and hunt the Cylon once more?
Baltar: Blood for blood has to stop one day.

• [Galactica getting pounded in orbit unable to escape, Pegasus abruptly swoops in firing on the Cylons]

Apollo: Galactica, Pegasus. Let us take some of this work off your hands. Get your FTL up and ready and we'll take care of the rest. (hangs up the phone, looks offscreen) Alright, fire up that main battery!
Crewman: Roger that, sir!
Adama: Damn you, Lee! Keep working on those FTL, get 'em online!
Kelly: Yes sir!
Adama: The Cylons'll redeploy as soon as they recover.
(Adama looks up at the DRADIS monitor)
Adama: Thank you, Lee.
(aboard Pegasus)
Dee: They're coming about, maneuvering to bracket us.
Apollo: Steady as she goes. Take us right into the center.
Dee: Won't last long in there.
Apollo: No.

• [The Cylons begin evacuation and leave Colonial One, Baltar remains behind with his head in his hands]]

Baltar: I just want to sit here and die.
(Gaeta racks the slide on a pistol)
Gaeta: You're gonna get your wish, Gaius.

• [Gaeta threatens Baltar with a gun]

Gaeta: I believed in you.
Six: Whoa. Whoa, Gaeta-
Gaeta: I believed in the dream of New Caprica...
Six: Gaeta, we all did.
Gaeta: No! Not him. He believed in the dream of Gaius Baltar. The good life. Booze, pills, hot and cold running interns. He led us to the apocalypse, and I... I turned out to be...
Baltar: An idealist. There's no sin in that. Everything you say about me is true, every word. But you have to listen to me. The Cylons have a nuke in this complex. Nobody, and I mean nobody, is getting off this planet alive unless I stop D'Anna.
Six: Gaius, she'll kill you.
Baltar: Then she'll kill me, or it'll be down to Mr. Gaeta. Either way, the human race dies with me.
Six: Gaius!
Baltar: Go ahead, shoot. What are you waiting for? (grabs the gun, shoves it up under his chin) Please. Please. I'm begging you, please? (Gaeta hands him the gun)
Gaeta: You have one chance to put things right, do you understand me? Get the frak out of here, stop that nuke! Go!
