WXIX-TV is a local station based in Cincinnati, Ohio that broadcasts on analog channel 19. Its digital signal is broadcast on channel 29. The call letters XIX are roman numerals which mean 19. WXIX was founded on August 1, 1968 with the call letters WNOP-TV. At the time it was an independent television station. At the beginning the station was owned by James Lang. In 1970, it was bought by US Communications who changed the call letters to WSCO. WXIX-TV would be sold again the following year to Metromedia who would give WXIX-TV its present call letters. WXIX-TV was (at the time) one of the most successful independent stations in the country. Although, it didn't have any real competition until WBTI (now WSTR-TV) which was an independent station as well, was launched. WXIX-TV would be sold again, this time to Malrite Broadcasting in 1983. In 1996, WXIX-TV became an affiliate of FOX and in 1998 WXIX-TV was bought by Raycom Media which still owns WXIX-TV today.

While broadcasting its digital signal on channel 29, WXIX will be mapped on digital tuners as 19.1.
