WCOV-TV first opened on April 17, 1953 as a primary CBS affiliate, with a secondary NBC, ABC, and a DuMont affiliation. In 1986, WCOV would become a Fox affiliate and WAKA in Selma became the CBS affiliate for Montgomery.
