From The TV IV

Supernatural follows brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they criss-cross America tracking down and eliminating evil supernatural forces. As children the brothers witnessed their mother being murdered by a demon, and since then their father John Winchester has been on a mission to find and kill this demon. When Sam's fiancée is killed in the same manner as his mother, he joins with Dean as they travel around hunting demons.

At the end of its first season the show was renewed for a second on The CW and in turn became the only WB show created within the previous two years to be brought over onto the new network.
