Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is a drama by Aaron Sorkin which takes a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of those that work on a long-running sketch-comedy show based in Los Angeles. The series is expected to be similar to Sports Night, but with Saturday Night Live as its subject matter rather than Sportscenter.
Though it gained critical acclaim and the devoted cult fanbase which follows Sorkin's television career, Studio 60 suffered from dismal ratings that it could not recover from, even after the show was reworked into a little less heavy on the failed romance between Matt and Harriet. The series was pulled mid-season and replaced by The Black Donnellys and The Real Wedding Crashers, both of which were also cancelled. Studio 60's final episodes began broadcasting on May 24th, more than a week after NBC announced that the show was cancelled.
