Star Wars: Clone Wars — Season Three

Chapter XXIII is the third episode of the third season of Star Wars: Clone Wars, and the twenty-third episode overall.

Plot Overview

Yoda is meditating on Coruscant when the city planet comes under attack. Mace Windu and Saesee Tiin jump into starfighters to assist with defense.

Meanwhile, on Nelvaan, Obi-Wan and Anakin are riding with the tribe they met. Back at the village, they find out that Anakin interrupted a rite of passage for the village's new champion, and will have to make up for it by undergoing his own rite.

During the atmospheric battle on Coruscant, Master Windu's starfighter takes heavy damage and he is forced to jump. He commandeers a droid fighter and rides it, using his lightsaber to slice through enemy ships. Saesee Tiin leads a cadre of fighters into space to assist with the battle. He lands onboard a a damaged Republic ship, and then proceeds to lead the troops from that ship into a raid on one of the Separatist cruisers.

Obi-Wan and Anakin sit with the elder of the Nelvaanian village, who performs a divining ritual that seems to prophecy that Anakin must help the villagers. Before they send Anakin off, Obi-Wan comments that this would be the one Jedi Trial that Anakin has not yet undertaken.

Yoda uses his Force powers to crash droid ships together, then heads off to help the clone troopers in Sector 4, where they report losing ground. Mace Windu pilots there as well, and they begin to assist the troops in pushing the droid army back.

Chancellor Palpatine is still in his office when Shaak Ti, Foul Moudama, Roron Corobb and a contigent of clone troopers come in, requesting that he evacuate. They are interrupted by the arrival of General Grievous.

The Show

• Foul Moudama and Roron Corobb were two characters featured in an online poll run by Cartoon Network as to which new character would appear on the show. The winner was Voolvif Monn, who eventually appeared as a brief cameo in Chapter XX.
