Star Wars: Clone Wars — Season Three

Chapter XXII is the second episode of the third season of Star Wars: Clone Wars, and the twenty-second episode overall. The Clone Wars continue, and Anakin and Obi-Wan are sent to Nelvaan.

Plot Overview

Oro Dassyne is pretty sure of his defenses on Bomis Korri IV, so he can't believe his eyes when only two Jedi — Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, smash through his defenses. From there, we see Anakin taking part in a number of battles, always successful.

Anakin returns home to Coruscant, where Padmé is horrified to discover that he has gained a rather prominent scar over his right eye. They return to her apartment for the night.

Obi-Wan is woken up from slumber by raindrops falling on his head. He in the middle of a siege on a shielded city, which has lasted a month and will last another three months, as Commander Cody cheerfully informs him (they are right on schedule). Anakin walks in with a bag of insects and begins to eat them, and when Obi-Wan asks where they came from, Anakin tells him they're from the sewers beneath the city. The plan is to go in and bomb the shield generator so the troops can swarm the city.

Obi-Wan and Anakin dive into the sewers and emerge right below the shield generator. Anakin would like to fight, but Obi-Wan simply uses the Force to move a few well-placed bombs into the room, destroying everything.

The Separatist army is seen attacking several planets, including Kashyyyk. Meanwhile, General Grievous spars with Count Dooku, who is not afraid to criticize his attack style. They are interrupted by the appearance of Darth Sideous' hologram, who asks about the war's progress and Grievous' special operation.

Anakin and Obi-Wan receive a message from Chancellor Palpatine and Mace Windu informing them that they are to travel to Nelvaan, where General Grievous has been reportedly been spotted. They go down to the planet's surface in a gunship with several clone troopers, and while looking around, they are attacked by a giant blue creature that Anakin destroys with ease. A group of aliens wearing masks emerge, joined by one very upset young boy.

• In the commentary, it is alluded that the scene where Padmé and Anakin return to her apartment is when Luke and Leia were conceived.

Allusions and References

• While walking through the sewer with Anakin, Obi-Wan remarks, "What an incredible new smell you've discovered." This is the same line that Han Solo used in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope when the group of them jumped into the trash compactor.
