Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends (1981–83) is an animated superhero action that aired on NBC. It is the third animated series based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. After the first season, it ran as a package show with The Incredible Hulk as The Incredible Hulk and the Amazing Spider-Man for the second season and The Amazing Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk for the third season. The show was later syndicated with the Marvel Action Universe package.
The show follows Peter Parker and his friends Bobby Drake and Angelica Jones who all go to college together at Empire State University. They also work together as the Spider-Friends, a superhero team, under their alter-egos Spider-Man, Ice Man and Firestar. Spider-Man and Ice Man both hail from Marvel Comics, but Firestar was created for the show, though she did end up appearing in Marvel Comics as well. Additionally, the show is ripe with references and appearances by other Marvel comics characters.
