Season Thirty-Five (2008–2009) of Saturday Night Live premiered on September 26, 2009.
The popularity of last year's Weekend Update Thursday primetime specials led NBC to order another run of the 30 minute satirical specials starring Seth Meyers and departed cast member Amy Poehler as the hosts. As many as 13 episodes may be aired, with the first starting Thursday, September 17. Four straight live Saturday shows began airing on September 26, 2009.
The show introduced two new featured players, Nasim Pedrad and Jenny Slate. Slate made waves on her first appearance in the first episode of the season by accidentally uttering an obscenity in a sketch where the characters are constantly using variations of "friggin" and "frickin". Slate was eventually fired after one season.
This season also marked the last for Will Forte, who left after eight seasons.
