Season Eight of Red Dwarf premiered on February 18, 1999.
Season eight sees the return of Captain Hollister and the Red Dwarf crew, reconstructed by Kryten's wayward nanbots. The dwarfers (Lister, Rimmer, the Cat, Kryten, and Kochanski) are put on trial and imprisoned. Most of the series takes place in the Tank, a secret prison on level 13.
Lister naively enlists himself and the other dwarfers in the Canaries, an expendable group of prisoners, sent on dangerous missions. And in the final, cliffhanger installment, Red Dwarf itself is destroyed.
