Plot Overview
The Island
- Jack, Locke, Kate, and Charlie leave the beach to collect water from the caves. Kate and Jack discover two decayed bodies in the caves, one male, one female. One of them is carrying a pouch with a white and a black stone in it. Jack thinks they have been there for 40 or 50 years.
- Jack thinks everyone should move to the caves in order to be safer and have easily accessible fresh water. Sun, Jin, Charlie, Locke, and Hurley, along with some of the other survivors, decide to move there. The rest stay at the beach.
- Locke confronts Charlie about his heroin addiction. He tells Charlie that he will run out soon, and it would be better if he chose to quit, instead of being forced into it. He asks if Charlie wants his guitar more than his drugs, and Charlie says he does. Locke tells him if he wants something from the Island, he must give the Island something. Charlie gives Locke his drugs, and Locke immediately shows him where his guitar is.
- Jin assaults Michael on the beach, nearly drowning him. Sayid and Sawyer split them up, and they handcuff Jin to a piece of the wreckage. Michael says he did nothing to Jin. While talking to Sun, Jin says he will not explain himself to a thief. Later, Michael walks into the woods, and Sun follows him, where it is revealed that she speaks fluent English. Michael's monocle pops. Sun explains that the reason Jin attacked him is because of the watch Michael is wearing. It was her father's, and it is a question of honor to Jin that he protect it. She then asks him for help. Michael later walks up to Jin with an axe, yells at Jin about staying away from him and Walt, and cuts the chain on the handcuffs, freeing Jin.
The Flashback
- Flashback: Sun
Sun is shown at a fancy party, where Jin is a waiter. They both sneak off at one point. Jin gives Sun a flower, which she cherishes. Sun tells Jin she wants to run away to America to get married. Jin says he wants to do it properly by asking Sun's father. Sun does not think it will work. Jin asks her father, and he gives his permission, as long as Jin works for him. Sun doesn't seem happy about that. They get a nice apartment, and Jin gets Sun a puppy. Sun recalls a time when he could only afford to give her a flower.
Many months later, Jin rushes in to the apartment, and runs into the bathroom. Sun follows him, and discovers that Jin is covered in blood, and is washing up. Sun asks what happens, but Jin doesn't answer. She keeps asking him questions, and finally asks whose blood it is. She then asks what Jin was doing. He says he was working. Sun asks what he does for her father. Jin says he does whatever he is told to do.
Later, Jin and Sun are at home with an interior decorator. Sun and the decorator go back in to the bedroom, where it is revealed that Sun is planning to leave Jin. Sun is supposed to be going on a flight with Jin in the near future. Sun will make an excuse to leave Jin's side at 11:15, walk out the front door to a waiting car, and disappear until her family thinks she is dead. When the time comes, Sun begins to walk away, but seems reluctant. She looks over at Jin, who holds up a flower like he used to. Sun walks back to Jin, and gets on the flight, which happens to be flight 815.
