Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies started as animated theatrical shorts. They ended up with many popular characters, such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Road Runner, with those characters having gone on to star in other media, including television. Additionally, the original theatrical shorts have been played on TV.
