KHII-TV is the MyNetworkTV affiliate in Honolulu, Hawaii. It broadcasts on digital channel 22 and on virtual channel 9. The station also operates satellite outlets KGMV in Wailuku (on Maui) and KGMD in Hilo (on the Island of Hawaii). It is a sister station to FOX affiliate KHON-TV.
History
KHII signed on in 1988 as KFVE, an independent station. In 1995 the station joined the UPN network but by 2000 it switched affilations to The WB. KFVE joined MyNetworkTV upon its launch in 2006, although a majority of the network's lineup is usually pre-empted for University of Hawaii sports programming. KFVE had been owned by MCG Media under a local marketing agreement with Raycom Media since 2009 and shared news and operations with CBS affilate KGMB-TV and NBC affiliate KHNL. Both KGMB and KFVE switched channels in 2009.
Raycom was acquired by Gray Television on January 2, 2019. As Gray now owns KGMB and KHNL, KFVE was sold outright to Nexstar Media Group, the owner of KHON. The sale was completed on January 28, 2019, the same day the station was recalled with its current call sign while the KFVE intellectual unit (call sign and syndicated and local programming) moved to KHNL's digital subchannel 13.2.
