History

KHON sign on the air in 1952 on channel 11 as a NBC/Dumont affiliate with the call signs KONA-TV; when Dumont ceased operations in 1955 the station kept NBC as its affiliation afterwards. It switched channels to 2 on October 16, 1955. The KONA calls were used until 1965 when it took its current calls. KHON switched affiliations to Fox in 1996, swapping with KHNL. KHON does not use the Fox slogan in its IDs.
