Overview
Season One introduces us to the enigmatic time traveller, known only as the Doctor, and his granddaughter, Susan. When we first meet them, the Doctor has tried to settle down in one place (1963 London), to give Susan a stable environment and allow her to attend school.
When two of her teachers discover their true nature, he whisks them off on a grand adventure through space and time. They never know where (or when) they will end up next, because although the Doctor knows a great deal about the TARDIS and its inner workings, he is not able to guide it particularly well.
Over time, Susan's teachers (Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright) come to like the Doctor and the harrowing adventures they share. It is one of those unexpected and harrowing adventures which introduces us to the Daleks -- creatures who are destined to become the Doctor's enemy across all of space and time.
