Plot Overview

The discovery of Finch's body further presses guilt onto Buffy while Faith continues to show no remorse. Having discovered her crime, the gang tries to figure out the best way to help her, but any attempt maybe sabotaged and risk sending her over the line.


Monster of the Week

There is no monster or demon in this episode; it deals with the fallout of Faith killing Allan Finch.

  • "Wish We Never Met" by Kathleen Wilhoite: The song that plays during the montage of Willow crying in the bathroom, Xander staring into space and Faith in her room is "Wish We Never Met" by actress and musician Kathleen Wilhoite. The song appears on Wilhoite's debut album Pitch Like a Girl.

  • Big Bad: After mistakenly killing the deputy mayor and subsequently snooping in his office, Buffy and Faith discover that The Mayor is a "black hat" who is covering up for a greater plot. Faith later offers her services to the Mayor, not knowing what exactly he's up to.



  • 3x11 - Gingerbread: Amy Madison turned herself into a rat in order to escape from a witch hunt lead by Buffy's mother, but is unable to transform herself back into a human. She is now living in a terrarium with Willow.
Willow: We're still trying to de-rat Amy.
  • 3x07 - Revelations: When Xander discovered that Buffy had rekindled her relationship with Angel, who he had previously thought still in hell, he and the others staged an angry intervention which nearly ended with her assaulting Xander.
Buffy: Like that intervention you and Xander had on me?
  • 3x13 - The Zeppo: Xander and Faith wound up sleeping together after he rescued her from a demon member of an apocalypse cult. After they did the deed, she threw him out of her apartment, naked.
Xander: She was fighting one of those apocalypse demon things and I helped.
