[edit] Monster of the Week
Although Lagos, a tusked demon with an axe, is established early on as the villain of the episode, little is known about him and he's quickly killed off while rumaging around for the artifact at the heart of the episode, the Glove of Myneghon. The glove permanently bonds with the wearer and apparently harnesses lightning strikes at the utterance of a single-word incantation. When Gwendolyn Post's arm was severed, the power which the glove harnessed burned her from the inside out because there was no conduit for it to go through. The glove itself could only be destroyed by conjuring living flame to melt it down.

[edit] Happenings
- Watchers Council: Gwendolyn Post, a disgraced watcher, comes to Sunnydale to cut down Giles, Buffy and Faith. Although Post turns out to have been expelled from the council, her words echo the sentiment that Giles may be estranged from the rest of the council.
- Intervention: While snooping around a crypt, Xander discovers that Angel is still alive and immediately tells Giles and the others about the situation. The resulting fall-out causes a rift within the group. Although she regains tenuous support from Xander, Willow and Giles, Cordelia and Faith distrust her and Oz remains silent about the matter entirely.
[edit] Characters
- Faith: Faith removes herself from the rest of the group after being burned on trusting Gwendolyn Post.
[edit] Referbacks
- 2x17 - Passion: Jenny Calendar was murdered by Angelus before she was able to recapture his soul and curse him again with it. It likely is not coincidental that the episode also dealt with betrayal and mistrust and that her death would have been prevented had she not been ostracized from the core group.
- Xander: ...you would stop him. Like you did last time with Ms. Calendar.
- 2x22 - Becoming (2): Angel hoped to remove the sword from the demon Eyghon in order to open a portal that would suck the planet into hell. When his ritual did not work, he kidnapped and tortured Giles to get the answers he needed as to why he failed to remove the sword.
- Giles: But sadly, I must remind you that Angel tortured me... for hours... for pleasure.
