Birds of Prey (2002–2003) is a superhero drama that aired on The WB. The series, loosely based around the comic book series of the same name, Birds of Prey are a superhero team consisting of Huntress (the daughter of Batman and Catwoman), Black Canary (a runaway with mind powers) and Oracle (formerly Barbara Gorden, Batgirl). The three fight the crime of Gotham under the cover of night, saving the city from the likes of Harley Quinn, Lady Shiva and Clayface, among others.
The series debuted to high ratings, but it quickly descended into lukewarm interest after the series alienated comic book fans by changing the origins of Huntress and Black Canary. The mainstream audience's interest in the series quickly dried up as well due to complete disinterest in the characters. Another reason attributed to the show's failure was that it was so deeply placed into comic book continuity (no matter how changed it was overall) that casual viewers had a hard time following the characters and their motivations.
