The Night Stalker is the pilot movie of Kolchak: The Night Stalker, and it is about a Los Angeles reporter who investigates a strange serial killer who turns out to be a vampire. It aired as part of the ABC Movie of the Week and became one of the highest-rated TV movies of all time. Its success spawned an ABC Movie of the Week sequel, The Night Strangler, which was reset in Seattle, and finally the series, again relocated to Chicago.
