WGNT is a television station in Norfolk, Virginia (licensed to Portsmouth), a CW station.
WGNT signed on the air October 1, 1961 as call letters WYAH-TV, in 1989, it changed its call letters to WGNT. In 1995, WGNT became a UPN affiliate, serving Portsmouth/Norfolk/Newport News. In 2006, WGNT became a CW affiliate when The WB and UPN signed off the air.
WGNT was the programming hub for two other CW affiliates, WUPA in Atlanta GA and WTOG in St. Petersburg FL until CBS sold the station to Local TV LLC, owners of CBS affiliate WTKR.
