Velma, a prequel of the long-running Scooby-Doo franchise, is an adult animated comedy series telling the origin story of Velma Dinkley, the unsung and under appreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang. This original and humorous spin unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America's most beloved mystery solvers.
It is the first series of the franchise in which Scooby-Doo does not appear. The rest of the gang will appear in the following roles: Shaggy is the editor of the school newspaper and goes by his original name Norville, Daphne is popularity obsessed, and Fred is a gym rat with daddy issues.
Velma herself has been altered to be of Indian Asian descent, she is openly bisexual (harboring crushes on Fred and Daphne), is opinionated to the point of alienating the others, but works diligently to solve the mystery at hand.
