Toon Disney was a 24-hour all-animation basic cable network that offered the best variety of Disney animation, toon movies, and high-energy action-adventure. Family-friendly and targeted toward children ages 6 to 11, Toon Disney was intended to complement the Disney Channel’s variety of programming for kids and families by providing continuous—and at times exclusive—access to Disney’s animated programming. Toon Disney was also the primetime home to Jetix, a high-energy programming block built on action, adventure, daring and humor, which premiered in February 2004. Toon Disney was a division of Disney-ABC Television Group, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. Disney announced on August 7, 2008 that they would be rebranding the network Disney XD on February 13, 2009 and refocus it on programming aimed at boys ages 6-14.
