Episode Breakdown

  • Opening: Jon takes a moment to apologize to Senator John McCain for not promoting his movie, Kickin' It Old Skool with Jamie Kennedy during their heated argument on last night's program. He starts to explain how those argumentative interviews make him feel using explicit language, but is stopped by the giant head of Robert Lujan, who has momentarily replaced Brian Williams. Lujan warns him about "pulling an Imus" and then makes fun of his set.
  • Extreme Makeover: Baghdad Edition: The latest tactic to solve the violence in Baghdad is erecting 12-foot walls to quarantine these more violent regions. Of course, suicide bombers are willing to blow themselves up for their cause, but not walk a couple of miles to do so. Also shown is a neighborhood kid slipping through the wall dividers and a large, angry mob of people. But, one Iraqi is happy with the wall. With the aid of a translator, he explains that now he has somewhere to practice his tennis. Jon throws to Aasif Mandvi, Baghdad Bureau Chief, who is "live in Baghdad." He says that the Iraqis want three more walls, with a roof on it so that their families will be safe inside, otherwise known as houses. This isn't the only wall that the Pentagon plans to put up though, they're planning to turn Baghdad into a game of Pac-Man. Additionally, the next surge will be an airlift of kittens because even terrorists couldn't shoot people holding adorable kittens. Following that, they'll put glasses on everyone and following that they'll put glasses on the kittens.
  • Back in Black - Earth Day: It's Earth Day, so every celebrity on the planet is telling everyone that they can save the planet if they act more like them. Oprah, on the other hand, gave away free environmentally friendly products, although chances are they they won't offset her giving away cars to everyone. Meanwhile, 20/20 inanely blathers about how cold it is at the poles of the planet and Pimp My Ride has an Earth Day special.
  • Garry Shandling Interview: Garry Shandling, star of The Larry Sanders Show, plugs the new DVD set from his sitcom, Not Just the Best of the Larry Sanders Show, and complains about how even though he spent 6 years killing himself working on the show, now he needs to produce bonus features. Shandling goes on to accuse Stewart of having an illegal cable hook-up and talk about the bootleg DVD signing in a back alley in New York. Incidentally, Stewart is on the DVD and used to write for the show.
  • Toss to Colbert: Stephen Colbert wakes up from a horrible dream where he had to do another one of those "stupid tosses" that they pretend to care about what each other has to say in the double boxes. "Or was it?!"
  • Moment of Zen: President George W. Bush embarrassingly dances to a drum beat outside of the White House.
